About Me
Reflection of MIDEA journey
Upon joining the MIDEA program, I hoped to expand my understanding of user interaction within platform systems. My goal was to gain a structured approach to design thinking that could help guide me from initial concept to final execution, particularly in user experience (UX) and interface design. I aimed to learn frameworks that would make my designs not only visually appealing but also highly functional and user-centered.

Throughout the MIDEA program, several key courses enriched my learning and broadened my skillset. In the Design Thinking course, I learned the structured methodology of tackling a complete design project, from problem definition to user-centered solutions. This course provided a systematic approach that I have applied in multiple projects since. In Interface Design, I acquired practical techniques for creating both low-fidelity and high-fidelity wireframes, building my confidence in prototyping. The IDEA Laboratory gave me invaluable hands-on experience, where I moved from initial ideation in game design to developing a working game concept. This immersive process, from brainstorming to reality, was transformative in applying theory to practice.

Top 3 practical skills acquired
-
Prototyping and Wireframing – I developed strong skills in creating both low-fi and hi-fi prototypes, a core competency that has been essential in visualizing and communicating design ideas clearly.
-
User Testing and Feedback Incorporation – Through multiple projects, I learned the importance of testing with users and iterating based on feedback, an essential skill for any UX/UI designer.
-
Analytical Skills and Data Interpretation analyze quantitative and qualitative data to measure the effectiveness of their designs, helps to assess user engagement metrics, conversion rates, or feedback loops.
Top 3 theoretical concepts learned
-
Visual Hierarchy in Design - Through contrast, color, size, and spacing, visual hierarchy helps designers highlight primary actions (like call-to-action buttons) and prioritize information, making interfaces more effective and user-friendly (Lidwell, Holden, & Butler, 2010).
-
Interaction Design and Microinteractions - Microinteractions enhance feedback, acknowledge user actions, and make the experience feel responsive and engaging, improving user satisfaction and guiding the user through tasks intuitively (Saffer, 2013).
-
Usability Heuristics for Interface Design - These heuristics provide a framework for evaluating designs to ensure they meet usability standards. For instance, error prevention can be achieved by adding confirmation prompts before critical actions (Nielsen, 1994).
